WOMEN : A Brief history of brutal torture

Women have been tortured historically to repress their sexuality, silence their tongues, and conform to standards of beauty. 

Most of all, women have been tortured to break their spirit and to keep them submissive to the men who feared what a liberated woman might mean for their fragile worldviews.   

- Also known as the wooden horse or the chevalet, the Spanish donkey slowly cut a woman in half through her genitals.

- Foot_binding existed in China for over a thousand years. A “beautification” procedure that left young girls crippled for life, it was considered beautiful for Chinese women to have small dainty feet. 

-  According to the World Health Organization, more than 200 million girls and women alive today have undergone female_genital_mutilation.

- ISIS has used breast_ripper in modern times as a punishment for Syrian women who breastfeed in public.

Terrorist organizations like ISIS use rape as a means of torturing women. Rape is perhaps the oldest and most enduring method of female torture that exists.

- Harassment is known in Egypt as taharrush , Sexual_harassment is taharrush_jinsi .Separated from her friends by the crowd, or out alone, the woman finds herself encircled by a large group of men who grope her breasts, genitals and buttocks. Attempts are made to pull or cut her clothes off, and her body is pulled in different directions as men move her through the crowd. Women regularly report digital penetration of the vagina and anus. Attackers have used sticks, knives and blades, and in several cases sharp objects have been inserted into the victim's vagina.

- Chopping_Nose was used in many Asian countries to punish a woman expressing sexual desire or "defaming" the family.
