Venus and Cupid (Love Forgiven) 1888 Sculptor: Prosper d'Epinay

Venus and Cupid (Love Forgiven) 1888
Sculptor: Prosper d'Epinay

Cupid was the son of Venus (Aphrodite) and a naughty child. He always shot his love arrows at people who weren't meant for each other for various reasons.

Venus herself violated the rule on non-interference of gods and goddesses in the affairs of mortals when she promised Paris the love of the most beautiful woman in the world if Paris chose her as the most beautiful goddess.
Paris gave the golden apple, which was a prize, to Venus, and she gave Paris the love of Helena of Troy.
Helena was married to the Prince of Troy and when she eloped with Paris, the Troy War began.

Also, do you remember the stories about how Zeus changed his appearance to disguise himself as an animal or bird to seduce a woman, man or nymph?

All the gods and goddesses broke the rule. So how could Venus be mad at Cupid for ruining people's lives?. She couldn't be mad at him. Also cupid was pretty cute
