The story of Mary Bell is one of the scariest in history. You’d never expect a 10-year-old child to just go around killing people, but that’s what Mary did, this is her story.

Mary Bell was born in Newcastle, England in 1958, she had a rough childhood. Her mother, Betty McCrickett was a 16-years-old sex worker when she gave birth to Mary, and she reportedly told doctors to “get that thing away from me” after giving birth. To make things worse, the Betty tried to give Mary away for adoption but her sister intervened. All this drama damaged the young girl, it turned her to a little monster.

The Murders

10 year old Mary Bell, began attacking other kids in the neighborhood, she would strangle them violently, and her obsession with death grew. It was on May 25, 1968 when she committed her first murder, she strangled 4-year-old Martin Brown to death, her friend Norma bell was present. Mary bragged to classmates that she killed the young boy, they didn’t believe her, she even went to the boys home and asked to see his body in the coffin, the boys mother slammed the door in her face.

The second murder was on July 31, Mary killed a 3-year-old name Brian Howe by strangulation, she even butchered the body with scissors. This murder shocked the community, the young killer was seen laughing and rubbing her hands on the day the boy was buried.

Mary is Arrested

Investigators began interviewing suspects, When they got to Mary, she said she saw a boy hitting Brian on the day he died and the boy was carrying a pair of broken scissors. Only the investigators and the killer knew about scissors being used in the marder, the info was not release to the public. Mary was arrested and sentenced to 12 years in prison.
