She’s the Most Hated Woman in America

She Adopted and Used an Autistic child for Social Media likes than placed him with a new family

If you’re a regular YouTube viewer you probably know about Myka and James Stauffer. Thier YouTube channel “The Stauffer Life” potrays an all American white family, four kids and a dog. The nice, rich, and giving American family adopt a kid in Asia and document the days raising him for all to see. Millions of views and hundred of thousands of YouTube dollars later, they gave the child away.

The Perfect American Family

If you scroll through the Stauffers YouTube channel you’ll see smiling faces with perfectly white teeth, white background, four Blond kids, and the occasional American flag, it’s Hollywood on YouTube. In 2017 the Stauffers decided to go Angelina Jolie and adopt an Asian kid, his name was Huxley. They videorized the adoption process and the child’s days in his new home. As soon as Huxley videos were on the Stauffers YouTube channel the views exploded, the subscriber count went up by hundred of thousands. People were glued to their smartphones watching the Stauffers raise their Chinese child.

Huxley Disappears

3 years later, Huxley was no longer on The Stauffers Life, video after video upload no Asian kid. Viewers were concerned as the Stauffers said nothing, they didn’t respond to viewers comments, nothing! As you’d expect on social media there were all kinds of theories about Huxely’s whereabouts, from child neglect to human trafficking.

The Stauffers Break Silence

After weeks of silence the family posted an emotional video explaining that they rehomed Huxley, they couldn’t cope with the child’s Autistic needs, it was too much. They were initially told the child has a brain tumor but were later informed he has autism. Viewers were angry, and the Stauffers began to trend on social media, they were all over news websites.

To outsiders, the Stauffers are a white family that adopted an Asian kid for views and likes on social media, they used the kid and then gave him away. It was not all hate as there were some sympathizers who gave away thier adopted children, they commented about the challenges of adopting a child with disabilities, the financial and emotional stress it brings.

The Stauffers Life goes on

Despite the controversy the Stauffers are happy YouTubers, smiling and being all American as always. It’s as if Huxley was never there.
